Services Grain Markets and Data Capture

To build credibility and data integrity, CMA introduced a series of in-house digital surveys as well as invested in online data collection platforms to assist make informed decisions for both the Association Members and the Government. These include but are not limited to:

Online Wheat Programme
Programme developed by CMA to ensure capture of all data related to wheat production in the country and ensure that millers access local wheat transparently and fairly based on the requirements of the wheat programme. CMA has also worked with KENTRADE and AFA to ensure full compliance to the KENTRADE and IMIS systems to avoid any delays in issuance of import clearance documents for wheat imports.

Data Capture
CMA has conducted various in-house surveys to address many pertinent issues affecting the industry with a view to providing credible data to the relevant decision makers. These include but are not limited to:
o HACCP Food Safety Survey
o Single Business Permit (County survey)
o Aflatoxin Surveillance
o Member Satisfaction Survey
o KPLC Power Outage Tracker
o VAT Refund Validation
o Demurrage Costs Survey

Maize Survey
CMA collects information on maize purchases from its members. This is historical information (volumes and prices of maize purchased). In addition, members also report details of trucks that are rejected due to high levels of aflatoxin found in the maize. CMA collects this information and creates a monthly report showing aggregate information. This report is sent to various government bodies who use this data in developing the national food balance sheets.

Grain Market Outlook and Information Dissemination
CMA conducts regular Grain Outlook Presentations for its members to understand the markets and make informed decisions.

Maize Allocations
During periods of scarcity, and based on Government directives, CMA allocates maize to its members in a fair and transparent manner based on capacities of their members.
